Corey primarily functions as a Fire safety Inspector for the City of Crestview. He conducts fire and life safety inspections of all commercial businesses within the city limits of Crestview. In addition to his inspection duties, he also serves as a fire and life safety educator. As an educator, Senior Captain Winkler teaches fire safety to citizens of all ages and discusses community risk subjects with local community groups. Corey is also the designated fire department Health and Safety Officer (HSO), in addition to also serving as the Public Information Officer (PIO) for the fire department.
Corey has been employed with the City of Crestview Fire Department since 2008 and has served a multitude of functions within the department during his tenure. He is certified as a Firefighter I and II, Fire safety Inspector I and II, Fire Investigator I and II, Fire Officer I and II, Instructor I, Live Fire Training Instructor I, Safety Officer, Fire and Life Safety Educator, Hazardous Materials Technician, and Pump Operator in the State of Florida. Corey is also a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association (FFMIA), Fire Department Safety Officers Association (FDSOA), International Society of Fire Service Instructors (ISFSI), International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), and International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF).
