The North Okaloosa Community Band’s upcoming Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, is another event in a Crestview holiday season calendar packed with fun, family-friendly activities.

Under the batons of concert conductors Stuart Campbell, who also helms the Baker School Sound of the Swamp band, and Kim Whaley, a Crestview High band director, the free concert features a program of traditional and contemporary Christmas music performed by the 40-piece concert band.

Selections include A Christmas Flourish, which NOCB director Jeannine Cochran, the band’s librarian, describes as “like a mashup of a lot of Christmas carols done in fanfare style.”

Other pieces to be performed include Christmas à la Big Band, Christmas Time is Here, The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire), and American neoclassical composer Alfred Reed’s arrangement of Greensleeves.

Also on the program is A Celtic Holy Night, “a Celtic twist on O Holy Night,” Ms. Cochrane said. The concert will also feature performances by ensembles from the celebrated Crestview High School band, the Big Red Machine.

The North Okaloosa Community Band’s Christmas concert is 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at Warriors Hall in the Whitehurst Municipal Building, 201 Stillwell Blvd. It is a Mayor’s Cultural Series Program. Admission is free, donations for the band are gratefully accepted, and social distancing will be practiced.
