City offices in the county seat will remain closed Friday as officials assess possible floodwater-related infrastructure damage in the aftermath of Hurricane Sally’s recent visit.
Several low-lying streets flooded around Crestview and are closed as of this release.
The city remains under the state of emergency declared Wednesday by Mayor JB Whitten in coordination with comparable Okaloosa County and state declarations.
“The safety of our citizens is our foremost concern as we assess the impact of Hurricane Sally on our city,” Mayor Whitten said. “We are working as fast as prudently possible to reopen our city services and streets and appreciate our citizens’ understanding and cooperation.”
Residents are encouraged to visit the city’s website, www.cityofcrestview.org, and Facebook page for up-to-the-minute updates on road and city office closures.
