On August 7th, Florida State Senator George Gainer is going to spend a day in the City of Crestview. Senator Gainer is a highly successful businessman and former Bay County Commissioner. The Senator just completed his first Legislative Session as the Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee. During that session, Senator Gainer received a proposal from the Crestview City Council requesting assistance for our highest priority road project. He was able to insert a request for $1.75 million into the state budget to aid us in that project, but the item was vetoed by the Governor. Now, the Senator is coming to Crestview to see first-hand what some of our other projects are. He will begin the day at 9 AM at a meeting with Mayor Cadle, the President of the City Council, JB Whitten, and a representative from the City Public Services Department. Transportation issues will be the focus of this 1.5 hour meeting. At 11 AM, the Senator will be escorted through the north part of the city so that he can see what we have here. At noon, he will meet with Crestview Business Leaders for a working lunch at the Chamber of Commerce building. From 1 PM until 3 PM, the Senator will have a Town Hall Meeting at Warriors’ Hall. The public is invited to come to listen to the Senator, make comments, and ask questions. The public includes anyone in the local area who lives in the Senator’s District. His day will conclude when we take him to PJ Adams Parkway to see what projects are being planned for that area.
