Eligibility for Free Service
You must meet one of the following requirements and provide 2 accepted forms of identification to receive a free Library Card.
- Own property and pay property taxes in Okaloosa County
- Renting a home in Okaloosa County
- A non-resident student or instructor at a college or university in Okaloosa County. Students receive a 6-month card for the current semester with proof of enrollment and verified local address.
- An active duty military and their depends (with valid ID card) living in Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, or Walton County.
Identity/Address verification requires TWO items, one from each list.
The first item is a photo ID:
- Driver’s license
- State identification card
- Passport
- Military ID
The second item documents your address, such as:
- Utility bill in your name
- Rental agreement
- Current business mail addressed to you
- Vehicle registration
Parents or guardians must apply for dependent children under age 16. The parents/guardians card must be in good standing before child’s card can be made. Parents/guardians are responsible for items checked out and fees incurred on dependent cards. Youth age 16 & older may apply independently with proper personal ID.
Non-Resident/Fee Service
If you are not eligible for free library service, the annual fee is $35 per family.
RV Park addresses in Okaloosa County and surrounding counties are not eligible for free library cards. Annual fee is $35 per family.
