Fire Inspections

Responsibilities



The Crestview Fire Department Fire Inspections Division conducts all Life Safety, Fire Building Code and Occupational License inspections for the City of Crestview as well as review all plans for compliance with the Florida Fire Prevention Code. The Inspector for the Crestview Fire Department is Assistant Chief Rodney Lancaster.

Assistant Chief Rodney Lancaster

Assistant Chief Rodney Lancaster is the Fire Marshal for the City of Crestview. Rodney has been with the department since 1994 starting out as a Line firefighter. Rodney holds state certifications of Firefighter Standards, Pump Operator, Fire Officer, Instructor, Fire Safety Inspector and Fire Investigator from the Florida State Fire College and an AAS for Electrical Engineering Technologies from Okaloosa Walton Community College. Rodney has also attended classes with Department of Homeland Security for explosive investigations and terrorism recognition.  Rodney is also a member of the Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association, International Association of Fire Chiefs and the Florida Fire Investigators Association.

  1. Fire Safety Inspector

    His primary functions as a firesafety inspector for the City of Crestview. He conducts fire and life safety inspections of all commercial businesses within the city limits of Crestview. In addition to his inspection duties, he also serves as a fire and life safety educator. As an educator, Senior Captain Winkler teaches fire safety to citizens of all ages and discusses community risk subjects with local community groups. Senior Captain Winkler is the designated Health and Safety Officer and the Public Information Officer for the fire department.

    Corey has been employed with the City of Crestview Fire Department since 2008 and has served a multitude of functions within the department during his tenure. He is certified as a Firefighter I and II, Firesafety Inspector I and II, Fire Investigator I and II, Fire Officer I and II, Instructor I, Safety Officer, Fire and Life Safety Educator, Hazardous Materials Technician, and Pump Operator in the State of Florida. Corey is also a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association (FFMIA), Fire Department Safety Officers Association (FDSOA), International Society of Fire Service Instructors (ISFSI), International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), and International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF)
